CHECK BEFORE APPLYING HEAT

RE-PRESSING Do not automatically press the nameset a second time. Only re-press if part of the nameset has not fully applied on the first press.
STEP-BY-STEP

APPLYING YOUR NAMESET

Take your time and follow each stage carefully. Before starting, make sure you have identified whether your nameset is DTF or flock and are using the correct application settings.

01

PREPARE & PRE-PRESS THE SHIRT

Lay the shirt flat on the heat press and make sure the application area is clean, smooth and free from creases.

PRE-PRESS FOR 5 SECONDS This helps prepare the application area before positioning the nameset.
02

POSITION THE NAMESET

Carefully position the nameset on the shirt. Take your time to check that it is straight, centred and sitting exactly where you want it before applying any heat.

TIP Check your positioning from more than one angle before pressing.
03

COVER WITH A PROTECTIVE SHEET

Place a suitable protective sheet over the entire nameset before bringing the heat press into contact with the shirt.

IMPORTANT Never apply the heat press directly onto the nameset or carrier without a protective sheet.
04

APPLY HEAT

Apply the nameset using the correct settings for the material you are working with.

DTF 115°C 2–3 SEC · MEDIUM PRESSURE
FLOCK 145°C 15 SEC · MEDIUM PRESSURE
05

ALLOW TO COOL & PEEL

For DTF, allow the application to cool slightly before carefully peeling the carrier.

For flock, allow the application to cool before peeling the carrier.

06

CHECK THE APPLICATION

Carefully inspect the complete nameset and make sure all letters, numbers and edges have fully adhered to the shirt.

07

RE-PRESS ONLY IF REQUIRED

If the entire nameset has applied correctly, no further pressing is required.

If an area has not fully adhered, replace the protective sheet and re-press only as necessary.

REMEMBER Do not automatically apply a second press when the nameset has already adhered correctly.

COMMON MISTAKES
TO AVOID

A few simple checks before pressing can help prevent problems and reduce unnecessary heat exposure to your shirt.

01 ×

USING THE WRONG SETTINGS

DTF and flock namesets require different temperatures and pressing times. Always identify which type you have before applying heat.

REMEMBER DTF 115°C · Flock 145°C
02 ×

SKIPPING THE PROTECTIVE SHEET

Always cover the nameset with a suitable protective sheet before applying heat. Never press directly onto the nameset or carrier.

REMEMBER Protect before you press.
03 ×

RUSHING THE POSITIONING

Check that the nameset is straight, centred and correctly positioned before applying heat. Once pressed, repositioning may not be possible.

REMEMBER Check twice. Press once.
04 ×

PEELING TOO EARLY

Allow the application to cool as instructed before removing the carrier. DTF should cool slightly, while flock should be allowed to cool before peeling.

REMEMBER Give the application time to cool.
05 ×

UNNECESSARY RE-PRESSING

If the nameset has fully adhered after the first press, there is no need to press it again. Only re-press areas that have not fully applied.

REMEMBER Only re-press when required.
