APPLYING A
NAMESET.
Correct positioning. Correct settings.
A professional finish.
Follow our step-by-step guidance for applying DTF and flock namesets safely and correctly to your football shirt.
WHICH TYPE OF NAMESET
ARE YOU APPLYING?
DTF and flock namesets require different application settings. Check which type you have before applying any heat.
DTF NAMESET
Protective sheet required. Cover the nameset before applying heat.
FLOCK NAMESET
Protective sheet required. Cover the nameset before applying heat.
DTF and flock require different temperatures and pressing times. Using the incorrect settings may damage the nameset or your shirt.
APPLYING YOUR NAMESET
Take your time and follow each stage carefully. Before starting, make sure you have identified whether your nameset is DTF or flock and are using the correct application settings.
PREPARE & PRE-PRESS THE SHIRT
Lay the shirt flat on the heat press and make sure the application area is clean, smooth and free from creases.
POSITION THE NAMESET
Carefully position the nameset on the shirt. Take your time to check that it is straight, centred and sitting exactly where you want it before applying any heat.
COVER WITH A PROTECTIVE SHEET
Place a suitable protective sheet over the entire nameset before bringing the heat press into contact with the shirt.
APPLY HEAT
Apply the nameset using the correct settings for the material you are working with.
ALLOW TO COOL & PEEL
For DTF, allow the application to cool slightly before carefully peeling the carrier.
For flock, allow the application to cool before peeling the carrier.
CHECK THE APPLICATION
Carefully inspect the complete nameset and make sure all letters, numbers and edges have fully adhered to the shirt.
RE-PRESS ONLY IF REQUIRED
If the entire nameset has applied correctly, no further pressing is required.
If an area has not fully adhered, replace the protective sheet and re-press only as necessary.
COMMON MISTAKES
TO AVOID
A few simple checks before pressing can help prevent problems and reduce unnecessary heat exposure to your shirt.
USING THE WRONG SETTINGS
DTF and flock namesets require different temperatures and pressing times. Always identify which type you have before applying heat.
SKIPPING THE PROTECTIVE SHEET
Always cover the nameset with a suitable protective sheet before applying heat. Never press directly onto the nameset or carrier.
RUSHING THE POSITIONING
Check that the nameset is straight, centred and correctly positioned before applying heat. Once pressed, repositioning may not be possible.
PEELING TOO EARLY
Allow the application to cool as instructed before removing the carrier. DTF should cool slightly, while flock should be allowed to cool before peeling.
UNNECESSARY RE-PRESSING
If the nameset has fully adhered after the first press, there is no need to press it again. Only re-press areas that have not fully applied.
AFTERCARE
Correct care after application will help protect your nameset, patches and football shirt.
WAIT BEFORE WASHING
Leave your shirt for at least 48 hours after applying a nameset or patch before washing it.
HAND WASH
Hand washing is the preferred method for football shirts with applied namesets and patches.
KEEP IT COOL
Use a short or quick wash cycle at a low temperature of 30°C.
TURN IT INSIDE OUT
When using a washing machine, turn the shirt inside out and place it inside a washing bag.
ALWAYS AIR DRY
Allow your football shirt to dry naturally. Always air dry after washing.
NEVER DO THESE
Always allow football shirts to air dry naturally.
Never iron directly over a nameset or patch.
